Do you accept HSA or FSA as payment? How does it work?Updated 3 days ago

We're partnered with Truemed so that qualified customers can make eligible purchases using HSA or FSA funds. Read more about the process, and some FAQs below!

FSA / HSA Checkout Process

  1. Add desired items to your cart and click "checkout."
  2. You'll ned to check out as a guest. If you're logged in to your account, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "check out as guest" in order to select the Truemed payment option.
  3. In the payment section of the checkout page, click the Truemed payment option
  4. You'll need to answer some questions in a qualification survey. Provide the required information to complete the attestation. This will generate a letter of medical necessity (LMN) that will be submitted to your HSA / FSA administrator.
  5. Enter your preferred payment details, typically your HSA / FSA card details. If you opt to pay with a credit card (not your HSA/ FSA card), you'll receive an emailed copy of your LMN, and you'll need to submit the expense to your administrator directly for reimbursement.

What is an LMN?

A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is a document written by a qualified healthcare provider that explains why a specific product or service is medically necessary for a patient’s health condition.

Why do a I need an LMN?

This letter is typically required when using Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), or Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) to purchase health-related items that are not automatically considered eligible by the IRS.

LMNs typically contain the following material:

  • The patient’s medical condition
  • The recommended product or service
  • The reason it is medically necessary
  • The duration for which it is needed
  • The provider’s credentials and signature

Should I answer for every condition that applies to me, or only the condition that the product I wish to purchase is meant to help with?

The Truemed survey prompts users to respond with all conditions they have been diagnosed with. In the case where they have not been diagnosed with anything but are trying to prevent a condition, they ask specifically what they are trying to prevent by making the purchase.

Does my email used at checkout have to match the email associated with my HSA/FSA account?

No, but your name should match between your order, your Truemed qualification survey, and your HSA/FSA account.
